Welcome to Station
Run your own decentralized music server and share your music directly with listeners.
What is Station?
A minimally extractive, self-hosted, digital music distribution service.
Why Station?
- Self host your music to maximize revenue
- Crowdfund with the FanSociety protocol
- Give special access to your patrons
Station is up and running on testnet — a great way to try it out and see if running your own server is right for you. Everything works just like it will on mainnet, on a separate network built for testing. (Mainnet launches soon — we'll update these docs the moment it does.)
How setup works
Getting a Station server running takes three steps:
- Get ready — grab a cheap server (or use a machine at home) and a domain name. See What You Need.
- Run one command — the installer sets up everything for you: Docker, HTTPS, and your Station node. See Install Station.
- Log in and upload — the installer gives you a PIN to create your dashboard login, then you're ready to add music.
The whole thing takes about 10 minutes.
Getting paid
Streaming your music needs nothing but your server. When you're ready to earn from it — a Fan Club, a Storefront, a Treasury — that side runs on a blockchain, so it needs a crypto wallet. Blockchain Network walks through it from scratch, and right now it's all on a free test network, so you can practice without spending anything.
